About GHoPA

Get Hooked on Positive Activities (GHoPA), formally Get Hooked on Fishing, believe that engaging young people in wholesome, exciting, structured and challenging activities greatly enriches the lives of all those who participate and which also benefits the local community.

GHoPA aims to include, engage and inspire young people through the safe and professional delivery of new and innovative positive activities.

Get Hooked, provides a range of dynamically delivered engagement and inclusion activities focussing on the personal and social development of young people & families, particularly those viewed as at risk from crime, substance misuse, poor health, educational under achievement and other forms of social exclusion.

We have identified through consultation with young people that in the past they have had little opportunity to progress further in their favourite activities after their programme had ended. To further assist, GHoPA has linked up with recognised local agencies; voluntary groups, schools, the Grimsby Institute of Further Education, locally based sporting, lifestyle coaches, clubs and associations to extend the users learning and development pathway. All share our vision, support our social aims, objectives and offer participants the opportunity to develop to more advanced levels.

GHoPA is a non-profit making social enterprise organisation working in partnership with NELC Children’s Services supplying a new and innovative and alternative range of inclusion and engagement services / activities to the Local Authority, Police, Schools, Agencies, Parents and Guardians.
